Project Showcase – Institutional
Waterloo Region Consolidated Courthouse
Robertson Bright Inc. (RBI) has been pleased to be an active participant in the design and construction of the new Waterloo Region Consolidated Courthouse (WRCC) in Kitchener, Ontario. This project was undertaken through the DBFM (Design Build Finance Maintain) model as directed by the Government of Ontario’s Infrastructure Ontario (IO) program as a part of their growing P3 (Private Public Partnership) provincial infrastructure project delivery mandate.
The WRCC has been designed and built to meet the latest standards of the Ministry of the Attorney General and with thirty courtrooms it will also be one of the largest courthouses in Ontario. Once fully operational, it will be consolidating the Superior Court of Justice and Ontario Court of Justice that are currently operating in three locations across the Waterloo Region. This facility is being constructed to achieve LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Silver as part of an intentionally reduced carbon footprint. With an expected completion in early 2013 this project is now in its final stages of testing and commissioning.
RBI was an integral part of the original pursuit design build team; Integrated Team Solutions (ITS), and as such served as a key participant in the design and was responsible for the supply and installation of all electrical and communications systems within the facility.
This has been an exciting and notable undertaking and one in which RBI is very proud to have been a part of this important design and construction project. In the same vein we look forward to being active in the “Maintain” portion of our DBFM team commitment for many years to come.
